Science Visitors
We had 21 teachers visit us today!
These teachers are Primary and Secondary teachers and are from all over NZ. They are on a special Science Leadership course for 6 months (like Mrs Brieseman was on in 2012).
They came to see what we get up to in Science at our school.
We all made cartesian divers. This was an introduction into Argo Floats - but more on that soon!
Update- one of the teachers put this post up on his blog along with a video - thanks Stuart!

Super Cold Bag
Here's a great experiment we did - one you can try at home!
· Citric
Acid
· Baking
Soda
· Tap Water
· Zip lock
bag (15cm x 10cm)
· Measuring
cup
· Plastic
spoons
What to do:
1. Put one
level teaspoon of citric acid in a zip lock bag.
2. Put one
teaspoon of baking soda in the same zip lock bag. And shake the bag gently to
mix the two chemicals.
4. Carefully seal up the bag without tipping ove r the cup of water inside it. Then tip the cup over
Not only does the bag blow up, it also becomes super cold! So don’t forget to
feel its temperature. (We measured that the bag went from 28*C to 15*C!!)
Why is it so?
